Princess injured in sword trick

Japanese magician Princess Tenko - who has a cult following across Asia and North America - has been seriously injured during a failed sword trick.

A regular in Las Vegas and favourite of North Korean leader Kim Jong II, the doll-like magician suffered facial injuries when she failed to escape in time. Fake metal swords were thrust into her escapology box, breaking her cheek bone and a rib. Despite her injuries, Princess Tenko continued her performance in Sabae, Japan for a further 30mins.

Like all good princesses, Princess Tenko never divulges her age - well it's rude to ask, anyway. In fact, she won't even confirm her real name.

Her extravagant stage show features highly elaborate costumes and make-up and quite a lot of pink and sparkles (picture of Princess Tenko). But, this princess certainly knows what her people want - she's sold over 1 million Princess Tenko character dolls and has her own hit cartoon series in the US; Princess Tenko and the Guardians of the Magic.

Her princessy antics have found favour with the rich and powerful too. OK, so Kim Jong II isn't every girl's cup of tea, but there's no disputing he's a mover and shaker on the international ...erm stage.

The moral of the story seems to be that acting like a princess can get you anywhere, but quit while you've still got your head.
