Princess Peace Envoy
The UN has named a Jordanian princess as a peace envoy. The new "Messenger of Peace" - daughter of the late King Hussein, Princess Haya, has a track record of promoting health, education and sports programs for Arab and Muslim youths.
Like every good princess, she married money: She's the wife of ruler of Dubai, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum. Likewise, she also did the "I want a pony" thing as a child. And, she probably got one (or several), since she's now an Olympic equestrian competitor.
Princess Haya joins 7 other new 'Messengers' recruited to fill the void left by recent departures such as the sad passing of Luciano Pavarotti. Given his larger than life persona, not to mention physical presence, one suspects several more lightweights like Princess Haya may be required.
